Short answer: decide first whether you want live channels or Ramadan series, because they're different products. For live Arabic TV, Sling TV's Arabic packs are the only mainstream licensed option in the US, with Ala Keifak listed at about $17.99 a month for roughly 80 channels including MBC Drama and Al Arabiya. For drama, especially the big Ramadan musalsalat, Shahid VIP from MBC is the better buy on its own. The catch most people miss: news is the one thing you shouldn't pay for. Al Jazeera, Al Arabiya, Asharq and Sky News Arabia all stream live for free through their own apps and official YouTube channels.

Sling Arabic: three packs, one decision
Sling has sold Arabic TV in the US for over a decade and is the only big streaming company to do it at scale. Channels come from Lebanon, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Palestine, Morocco and pan-Arab networks, with MBC, Rotana and LBCI among the anchors.
There are three packs. Most people land on Ala Keifak, which has covered the core MBC and Rotana channels plus Al Arabiya. Al Ostoura is the big bundle; it made the most sense when it included Shahid VIP, so check whether it still does before paying the difference. Al Maalem is the budget option.
Streams top out at 1080p, which is fine for news and drama. Sling runs on Fire TV, Roku, Apple TV, Android TV, and phones.
Suits: parents or grandparents who want the TV on in the background, with channels from home.
Not worth it if: you only watch two or three series a year. Shahid alone is cheaper.
Shahid VIP for drama
MBC's Shahid is the biggest Arabic streaming service, and its VIP tier holds most of the prestige Ramadan series each year, often before or alongside TV broadcast. It's sold directly in the US through the Shahid app on iPhone, Android and major TV platforms. Prices vary by plan and billing platform, so compare the in-app price with the website before paying.
A good pattern: subscribe for Ramadan and the month after, then pause. There's no reason to pay year-round if you mostly watch the season's big series.
The free layer
Before paying for any pack, set up the free layer. The big news channels stream themselves, officially, because reach matters more to them than subscription revenue.
- Al Jazeera Arabic: live on its own app and official YouTube channel
- Al Arabiya and Al Hadath: live via their apps and websites
- Asharq News (with Bloomberg): live online
- Sky News Arabia: live on its app
On a TV, the YouTube app on any streaming device handles these well. Choosing the device.
Football and sport
This is the weak point. beIN Sports' Arabic MENA channels are licensed for the Middle East and North Africa, not the US. What you can get in the US is beIN Sports' US channels, which include Spanish and English coverage, through services like Fubo and Sling. Some Sling Arabic packs have included beIN channels, but check whether the Arabic commentary feed is part of it.
If Arabic commentary is non-negotiable, there isn't a clean licensed answer for most leagues in the US right now. Sports rights and why they're split.
Choosing by country
Egyptian households: Sling covers the main Egyptian entertainment channels, and Shahid and Netflix have deep Egyptian film catalogs.
Lebanese households: check which of LBCI, MTV Lebanon and Al Jadeed are in the pack you're considering. They've sat in different tiers.
Gulf and Saudi households: MBC and Rotana dominate, which makes Ala Keifak plus Shahid VIP the natural pair.
Maghreb households: coverage is thinner. Moroccan channels have been in Sling's line-up; Algerian and Tunisian ones less consistently.
For the channel-by-channel picture, Arabic channels in the USA goes further.
What to steer clear of
"Arabic IPTV" boxes with 10,000 channels sold at community events and online are almost always unlicensed. They carry beIN MENA and OSN channels that nobody can legally resell in the US for $100 a year, and they tend to fail during the biggest matches, exactly when you need them. The warning signs and what US law says are worth five minutes.
Also avoid buying Shahid VIP "keys" or shared accounts from resale sites. They're often region-locked to another country and can be revoked.
