Best Live TV Streaming for Sports in 2026: Bundles and Add-ons

Short answer: for most US sports fans in 2026, YouTube TV's Sports Plan at $64.99 a month is the best live TV streaming choice. It has ESPN, Fox, CBS, NBC, FS1 and your local affiliates, plus unlimited DVR and multiview. If your local NBA, NHL or MLB team airs on a regional sports network, DirecTV's Choice plan is the one to beat. The catch that no single bundle solves: a growing share of big games now sit on Prime Video, Peacock, Netflix and ESPN's own app, so a "complete" sports setup is a bundle plus one or two streaming services.

At a glance

Sports streaming in 2026

Best overall YouTube TV Sports Plan, $64.99
Local teams on RSNs DirecTV Choice, $94.99
Cheapest with ESPN Sling Orange, $45.99
Most screens at home Fubo Pro, $88.99
You'll still need Prime Video and Peacock for some games

Start with your sport

Sports rights are split more finely than ever. Before comparing services, check where your league actually lives this season. National rights as of the 2025-26 and 2026 seasons:

League Where national games are What that means for you
NFL CBS, Fox, NBC, ESPN/ABC, Prime Video (Thursday), Netflix (Christmas), Peacock (select) A bundle with locals plus Prime covers most games; Sunday Ticket for out-of-market
NBA ESPN/ABC, NBC and Peacock, Prime Video (from 2025-26) TNT is gone; Peacock and Prime matter now
MLB Fox, FS1, ESPN, NBC and Peacock, Netflix (select events), MLB.TV via ESPN Local team usually on an RSN
NHL ESPN/ABC, TNT Needs a service with TNT, plus an RSN for local games
College football ESPN networks, SEC Network, ACC Network, Fox, CBS, NBC, Big Ten Network Conference networks vary by plan

YouTube TV's Sports Plan, honestly

When YouTube TV launched its genre plans in February 2026, the Sports Plan was the headline: about 35 channels for $64.99, including the ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC affiliates, every ESPN network, FS1 and NBC's sports channels. New members were offered a discounted first year.

It's good value, and it keeps what sports fans use most: unlimited DVR, multiview (four games on one screen) and key plays summaries. But reviewers have pointed out real gaps. TNT and TBS aren't in it, which matters for NHL, March Madness and some MLB. Neither are most RSNs. Check the channel list against your teams before signing up. If you need TNT, the $82.99 Full Plan carries it; check the current lineup of the $71.99 Sports + News Plan before assuming it does.

NFL Sunday Ticket is sold as an add-on through YouTube, at a separate seasonal price that runs to several hundred dollars and is usually discounted early. It shows out-of-market Sunday afternoon games only, not your local team's.

The regional sports network problem

For local NBA, NHL and MLB teams, the network that matters isn't ESPN. It's the regional sports network: FanDuel Sports Network, NBC Sports regional channels, Marquee, YES, NESN, MSG, Spectrum SportsNet and others.

DirecTV carries more of these than any other streaming bundle. Fubo carries a fair number on its Pro plan. YouTube TV and Sling carry almost none. Several RSNs also sell a direct streaming subscription of their own, often $20 to $25 a month, and a few teams have moved games back to free over-the-air stations. That last point is worth checking. Some of the best local sports deals in 2026 cost nothing if you have an antenna.

Always check your ZIP code on the service's site. RSN availability is by address, and blackout rules still apply to out-of-market packages.

The streaming services you'll add

This is the part bundles can't fix. These services hold exclusive games that won't appear on any live TV package:

  • Prime Video (with Amazon Prime): Thursday Night Football, NBA games from 2025-26, and some NASCAR.
  • Peacock (Premium about $10.99 a month, Premium Plus more): NBA games, some NFL, Premier League, Sunday Night Baseball simulcasts.
  • ESPN Unlimited ($29.99 a month): ESPN's full direct-to-consumer service. You don't need it if your bundle includes ESPN, since TV subscribers can sign in.
  • Netflix: Christmas Day NFL and selected live events.

Rotate these. Peacock for the months your league is on, Prime if you already have it, and cancel in the off-season.

Delay, 4K and multiview: the sports-specific features

Three features matter far more for sports than for anything else on TV, and the services differ on all three.

Delay. Streaming runs behind broadcast, commonly by 20 to 60 seconds depending on the service and device. If friends are texting about a touchdown before you see it, that's why. An antenna is the fastest feed of a local network game. Among the streamers, delay varies by event and even by device, so nobody can promise a fixed figure. If it bothers you, watch network games over the air and use the streaming service for cable channels.

4K. YouTube TV (with the 4K Plus add-on), Fubo's Elite plan and DirecTV all offer selected events in 4K, typically big college football games, some NFL and major tournaments. Most regular-season games are still HD. Don't pay extra unless your sport is on the 4K schedule.

Multiview. YouTube TV's multiview shows up to four games at once and now works with custom combinations for many events. Fubo and DirecTV offer versions of it on supported devices. For NFL Sundays or March Madness, it genuinely changes how you watch. Check that your streaming device is on the supported list; older sticks often aren't.

A final practical point: for a big game, wire the TV device to the router with Ethernet if you can. Wi-Fi is the most common reason a stream drops quality at the worst moment.

Three sensible setups

The NFL household. Antenna plus YouTube TV Sports Plan plus Prime. About $80 a month in season, roughly $15 in the off-season.

The local-team loyalist. DirecTV Choice with the RSN for your team. $94.99 plus any regional sports fee. Expensive, but it's the only bundle that reliably carries most local games.

The budget fan. Antenna plus Sling Orange plus Peacock during your sport's season. Around $57 a month. You lose multiview, locals in the app and most DVR, but you see most national games.

Whatever you pick, bandwidth matters for sports more than anything else. Our speed guide explains why 4K games need more headroom, and the buffering fix guide helps if kick-off stutters.

What to avoid

Assuming "includes ESPN" means every game. ESPN simulcasts some games on ESPN Unlimited only, and some college games sit on conference networks your plan may lack.

Paying for 4K for every sport. Only selected events are produced in 4K. Check your league's schedule.

Cheap "every sport" IPTV subscriptions. These are unlicensed streams that tend to fail at kickoff, when demand peaks and rights holders issue takedowns. Our guide to sports on IPTV explains why. Licensed services exist for every sport listed here.

Using a VPN to dodge blackouts. It breaks the services' terms, and several now detect and block it.
