BuzzTV vs Formuler (2026): Which IPTV Box Is Worth the Premium?

Short answer: in 2026 the most interesting box in this matchup is BuzzTV's G-Series, not a Formuler. At $149.99 it's BuzzTV's first certified Google TV device, it runs Android TV 14, and reviewers report Netflix certification for 4K HDR. The Formuler Z11 Pro Max costs more ($209.99), runs Android 11 and isn't sold as Netflix-certified. Formuler still has the more polished live TV app in MYTVOnline, so if that app is the reason you're shopping, it's a fair choice. The catch with both: you're paying a premium over a $60 Google TV box for an IPTV-focused interface, and you should know exactly why you want it.

The two lineups in 2026

Both brands have been through a model refresh, and a lot of what ranks in search is about discontinued boxes. BuzzTV lists the X5 SS and U5 as discontinued. Formuler's Z11 series dates from late 2022.

Prices here come from brand stores and reviews; both brands are sold mainly direct and through specialist dealers rather than Amazon or Best Buy, so prices vary more than for mainstream streamers.

The software is the product

Nobody pays $150 to $300 for these boxes for the chip. You pay for software built around live TV.

Formuler MYTVOnline 3 is a single app for live channels, EPG, catch-up, recording and timeshift. It supports three source types: MAG/Stalker-style portals, Xtream logins and M3U playlists. It can hold several sources at once and search across all of them. The newer MYTVOnline 4 comes to the Z12 Ultra by update. People who like MYTVOnline tend to like it a lot; it's been refined for years.

BuzzTV takes a different approach on most models: a custom launcher (BuzzTV OS) with IPTV built into the home screen, multi-server management, PVR with scheduled recording and timeshift. The G-Series is the exception. It uses the standard Google TV interface, with the BuzzTV app on top. That's a trade: you lose the all-in-one launcher but gain the mainstream app ecosystem and Google's updates.

Either way, the player only plays what you give it. We explain the formats in Xtream Codes explained and M3U playlists explained.

Certification and streaming apps

This is where the G-Series pulls ahead. A Google TV-certified, Netflix-certified box gets the Play Store, 4K HDR in Netflix and other major apps, and proper Google security updates. TROYPOINT's review of the G-Series reported Netflix 4K HDR playback working natively.

Formuler says its boxes support Widevine L1, but it's explicit that this doesn't guarantee any particular service has certified them for HD or 4K. In practice, check the specific apps you care about. BuzzTV's custom-OS models have the same question mark.

If your household also watches YouTube TV, Netflix, Max or Disney+ on the same TV, certification matters more than any IPTV feature.

Hardware details that matter

Networking. The G-Series and Z11 Pro Max both have gigabit Ethernet and Wi-Fi 6. The Z12 Ultra adds Wi-Fi 6E. For live TV, wired is still best. See how much speed IPTV needs.

Upscaling. BuzzTV's AI-SR upscaling (on the G-Series and Classic AI) uses dedicated hardware to sharpen 720p and 1080p to near-4K. Most live channels are 720p or 1080i, so this is useful. It's not adjustable, which some users dislike.

Storage and recording. The G-Series has 64GB plus microSD; the Z11 Pro Max has 32GB. Both can record to USB drives. For heavy recording, check our IPTV recording guide.

Audio. Reviewers note the G-Series struggles with lossless TrueHD passthrough outside Kodi. If you run a home cinema receiver, that's worth knowing.

Remote. Both brands ship remotes with number pads, which matters more than you'd think for channel surfing. BuzzTV's G21 has voice; Formuler's standard IR1 doesn't, with a Bluetooth BT1 edition available.

Are they worth it over a $60 box?

Honestly, for many people, no.

A Walmart onn 4K Pro at around $60 runs Google TV, has Ethernet and 32GB, and plays TiviMate, which does most of what MYTVOnline and the BuzzTV app do. Add TiviMate Premium and you have recording and multiple playlists for a total well under $100. Our streaming device guide compares the cheap options.

These boxes earn their price if you want a number-pad remote, a TV-style experience that boots into live channels, a dedicated support line, or specifically the MYTVOnline interface. Those are legitimate reasons. "It's an IPTV box" isn't.

And one warning: both brands are heavily resold "with service". A box sold bundled with a year of channels is almost always an unlicensed reseller's package. Buy the hardware alone. Warning signs to check.

How to choose

  • You want one box for IPTV and mainstream apps: BuzzTV G-Series.
  • You love MYTVOnline or use MAG-style portals from a licensed operator: Formuler Z11 Pro Max, or the Z12 Ultra if you want more storage and newer Android.
  • You want a home-screen-is-the-guide TV experience: BuzzTV Classic AI.
  • You're on a budget: neither. Buy a mainstream Google TV box and a good player.
