onn 4K Pro (2026) Review for IPTV: The $60 Box to Beat

Short answer: the 2026 onn 4K Pro is the best-value box for IPTV you can buy right now. For about $60 at Walmart you get Google TV, the Play Store, Ethernet, 32GB of storage and the fastest chip in any Google TV device, and it runs TiviMate, Kodi and every major licensed live TV app. The catch is that Walmart cut some corners compared with the 2024 model: RAM drops from 4GB to 3GB, the USB port drops from 3.0 to 2.0, and the Ethernet port is only 100 Mbps. For IPTV, only the USB change really matters, and only if you record.

AFTVnews benchmarks put the new chip about 50% ahead of the 2024 model, 12% ahead of the Fire TV Stick 4K Max and about 25% ahead of the Google TV Streamer. Only Nvidia's Shield models scored higher. The 2024 price is Walmart's launch price at the time.

What it does well for IPTV

It's wired. Most IPTV stutter is Wi-Fi, not the service. Plugging in a cable fixes a surprising number of problems, and very few devices at this price have a port. The 100 Mbps limit gets criticised, but a 4K stream uses about 25 Mbps. For live TV, it's plenty. See our buffering guide for the reasoning.

Room for a big guide. 32GB storage and 3GB RAM hold a multi-thousand-channel EPG, logos and a couple of licensed apps without the constant clearing of cache you'll do on an 8GB or 16GB stick.

Fast navigation. The S905X5M makes scrolling a grid guide and changing channels feel quick. Reviewers who've used it for weeks describe it as consistently responsive.

An open platform. This is Google TV with the Play Store. You can also install an APK if a player isn't listed. That openness is worth more every year, now that Amazon's new Fire TV Sticks run Vega OS and only install from Amazon's own store.

Voice without the remote. Far-field microphones and a speaker mean you can say "switch to TiviMate" across the room. Novelty for some, useful for others.

What it does badly

USB 2.0. If you record live TV to an external drive, the 2024 model's USB 3.0 was better. USB 2.0 still handles one or two recordings at once, but it's slower for moving files and less comfortable with multiple simultaneous recordings.

Less RAM than last year. 3GB is enough for IPTV. Heavy app-switchers may notice more reloads than on the 2024 model.

Google TV's home screen. It's full of recommendations and ads. You can reduce it by turning on "Apps only" mode in settings, which also hides the content rows.

Walmart only. No Amazon, no Best Buy. Stock at launch was uneven, and reports of early sell-outs were common.

Update pace. onn devices get Google TV updates, but historically slower than Google's own hardware. There's no published support end date.

Players and services that work

Because it's a standard Google TV device, all of these install from the Play Store:

  • TiviMate, the most popular TV-screen IPTV player. Premium adds recording and multiple playlists. Is TiviMate Premium worth it?
  • IPTV Smarters-style players for Xtream Codes logins.
  • Kodi with the PVR IPTV Simple Client. Kodi IPTV setup.
  • Licensed live TV: YouTube TV, Sling TV, Fubo, Hulu + Live TV, DirecTV, Philo, Frndly TV, plus free services like Pluto TV and Tubi.
  • Plex as a client for Plex Live TV. It can't host a Plex server.

A player doesn't include channels. It plays what your service gives you. Use it with a licensed service or a playlist you have the right to use. What's legal in the US.

Setting it up for live TV

  1. Plug in Ethernet before setup if you can. It'll use the cable for the initial update, which is faster.
  2. Turn on "Apps only" mode (Settings, Accounts and profile, your account) to cut the home-screen clutter.
  3. Install your player from the Play Store and add your M3U URL or Xtream login.
  4. Load the EPG and give it a few minutes the first time. If the guide stays empty, our EPG troubleshooting guide helps.
  5. Set the player as the launch app for the TV input if you want the box to boot straight into live TV. Some players offer an "open on start" option.
  6. Enable frame rate matching in the player if available. It reduces judder on 50Hz international channels.

Who should buy it

Buy it if you want the cheapest good IPTV box, your TV is near the router or you can run a cable, and you like the idea of Google TV staying open to third-party players.

Think twice if you record heavily to USB (the 2024 model or a Shield is better) or you already own the 2024 onn 4K Pro. The upgrade isn't worth it.

Don't buy it from a marketplace seller "preloaded" with channels. Buy it plain from Walmart and set it up yourself.
