Black Friday Fire TV Stick Deals 2026: Which Model, and What Price to Wait For

Short answer: wait for Black Friday unless your current stick has died. Amazon raised every Fire TV list price on August 24, 2026, by as much as 42%, and the Android-based models went up the most. Sale prices historically fall 40 to 50% below list, so this November's discounts will look bigger than ever while the actual price you pay may land close to last year's. The best buy for most people is the Fire TV Stick 4K Plus, not the Max, and not the cheaper 4K Select, for one reason explained below: the operating system.

Worth the extra 4K Max, if you have Wi-Fi 6E or want more storage

List price rise August 24, 2026, 14% to 43%
Sale window Mid-November to Cyber Monday, Nov 30

The price table: old list, new list, last Black Friday

Model OS List before Aug 24, 2026 List now Black Friday 2025 low
Fire TV Stick HD Vega OS $34.99 $39.99 $18
Fire TV Stick 4K Select Vega OS $39.99 $49.99 $22
Fire TV Stick 4K Plus Fire OS $49.99 $69.99 $25
Fire TV Stick 4K Max Fire OS $59.99 $84.99 $35
Fire TV Cube Fire OS $139.99 $199.99 $90

2025 lows are from the early Black Friday prices Amazon ran from mid-November 2025. Nobody knows yet whether 2026's sale prices will track the old list prices or the new ones. If Amazon keeps the same percentage discounts, the 4K Max would land around $50 rather than $35.

One more date to know: Amazon's Prime Big Deal Days runs October 6 to 7, 2026. Fire TV prices at that event are usually a preview of Black Friday, give or take a few dollars.

The question that matters more than price

Amazon now sells two families of stick that look identical and behave differently.

Vega OS (4K Select and the newest HD) is Amazon's own Linux-based system. Apps come only from the Amazon Appstore. You can't install an Android app from anywhere else, and the catalog of apps built for Vega is smaller.

Fire OS (4K Plus, 4K Max, Cube) is Android underneath. It runs the full Amazon Appstore catalog, and it still allows installing Android apps from outside the store, which matters if you use an IPTV player that isn't listed.

For anyone who uses a standalone player app for a playlist or login from their own provider, the difference is decisive. What works on each Fire TV model goes through it app by app, and the best player apps for Fire TV covers which ones are in the Appstore.

There's also the long view. Amazon's price rise hit the Android models hardest, which reads like a push towards Vega. If you want Fire OS, this Black Friday may be one of the last cheap chances to buy it new.

Which stick for which person

You only watch Netflix, Prime Video and the big apps: a 4K Select at a deep discount is fine. Every major service has a Vega app. Just know that you're buying into the Appstore-only world.

You use an IPTV player or anything slightly unusual: get the 4K Plus. It's Fire OS, it handles 4K HDR and Dolby Vision, and at a sale price it's the lowest-cost way to keep full app flexibility.

You have a Wi-Fi 6E router, or you keep lots of apps: the 4K Max adds Wi-Fi 6E, 16GB of storage (double the Plus) and a slightly faster processor. At $35 it was a no-brainer. At $50 or more it's a nice-to-have. On a Wi-Fi 5 or Wi-Fi 6 router the speed difference over the Plus is small.

You have a smaller, older TV that's 1080p: the HD is enough. Don't pay for 4K you can't see.

You want hands-free voice and a wired connection built in: the Cube has an Ethernet port and a far-field microphone. At $199.99 list it's hard to justify. Wait for a sale near $100 or skip it.

What counts as a good deal this year

A simple rule: if the sale price is at or below last year's Black Friday low, buy it. If it's within $10, it's still fine. Beyond that, you're paying for the new list price.

  • HD: good at $20 or under
  • 4K Select: good at $25 or under
  • 4K Plus: good at $30 or under
  • 4K Max: good at $40 or under, acceptable to $45
  • Cube: good at $100 or under

Check the model name on the listing, not the photo. The 4K Select and 4K Plus look almost the same and a "4K stick" deal could be either.

If the Fire TV deal isn't good enough

Roku, Google and Onn raised their own prices in 2026 too, so don't assume the alternatives are cheaper. That said:

Google TV Streamer is the closest Android-based rival, with Ethernet built in. It's pricier, but it goes on sale for Black Friday too. What it can run.

Walmart's Onn 4K Pro runs Google TV and has been one of the cheapest Android-based 4K boxes.

Roku is excellent for mainstream apps but doesn't allow installing apps from outside its store. What that means for IPTV.

Apple TV 4K is the most expensive and rarely discounted by much, but it gets software updates for years. The full device comparison covers all four.

What to avoid

"Fully loaded" or "jailbroken" Fire Sticks. These are ordinary sticks with unlicensed apps preinstalled and a markup. Amazon blocks known unlicensed-content apps at install and at launch, so they often stop working within weeks, and there's no warranty or refund route through the reseller.

Refurbished listings at near-new prices. Amazon's own renewed sticks are fine at a real discount. A renewed 4K Max at $45 when the new one is $40 is not.

Buying the Max for speed you won't use. If your internet is under 100 Mbps, the Max's Wi-Fi 6E won't make streams faster. What speed you actually need for 4K.

Buying streaming subscriptions at the same time? This year's streaming deals are covered separately.

Quick answers

When do Fire TV Stick Black Friday deals start? In 2025 they started around November 13. Expect a similar mid-November start in 2026, ahead of Black Friday on November 27.

Why did Fire TV Sticks get more expensive? Amazon raised list prices on all Fire TV devices on August 24, 2026. Android-based models rose most, up to 42% for the 4K Max.

Is the 4K Max worth it over the 4K Plus? Only if you have a Wi-Fi 6E router or need the extra storage. Otherwise the Plus plays the same 4K HDR formats for less.

Which Fire TV Sticks run Vega OS? The 4K Select and the newest HD model. They can only install apps from the Amazon Appstore.

Will Prime Big Deal Days match Black Friday prices? Often, within a few dollars. The October 6 to 7 event is a good preview.

Are "fully loaded" Fire Sticks legal? They come preloaded with apps that stream unlicensed content. Amazon blocks those apps, and buying one carries risk without any benefit over a normal stick.
