Short answer: Globoplay Internacional is worth it if Globo is the network you grew up with. It's the only licensed way to get Globo's novelas, Jornal Nacional and a set of Globo's pay channels in the US with a normal American card and no CPF. Just don't expect the Brazilian Globoplay: the international catalogue is smaller, and the foreign series and films Globo licenses at home mostly aren't included.

What you're buying
Globo launched its international Globoplay in the US in December 2021, aimed squarely at the roughly 1.4 million Brazilians living here, with Florida and Massachusetts as the obvious centres. It has since spread to more countries.
The product has two halves.
Live TV. The core is TV Globo Internacional, Globo's feed for viewers abroad. Store listings for the international app describe a bundle of live channels on top of that, naming GloboNews, SporTV, GNT, Multishow and Gloob. The exact set depends on the plan and country, so check the channel screen in the app before subscribing.
On demand. Current and classic novelas, Globo original series, news programmes, comedy and kids' content. Some titles can be downloaded to a phone for flights, which matters to anyone who travels home.
For a lot of families that's everything they want: the evening novela, the news, Fantástico on Sunday and a back catalogue to binge.
What isn't included
This is where reviews are often too generous.
Foreign content. In Brazil, Globoplay carries plenty of American series and films under licence. Those licences are for Brazil. The US catalogue leaves most of them out, so if you remember a show on Globoplay back home, don't assume it's here.
Other Brazilian networks. No Record, SBT or Band. Globoplay is Globo only.
Complete football. SporTV coverage depends on what's cleared for international distribution, and Brasileirão and Libertadores rights in the US are held separately. Some matches will be blacked out.
Premiere and Telecine. Globo's premium football and film channels are sold as add-ons in Brazil and aren't a given abroad.
Price and billing
Globoplay launched in the US at $13.99 a month, and reports through 2026 still cite that figure. We couldn't confirm a current US price on an official Globo page, so check the price in the app store before you tap subscribe.
You subscribe inside the app, and the charge goes through Apple, Google or Roku. That's actually useful. Cancelling takes seconds in your phone's subscription settings, and disputes go through a company you already deal with.
Is $13.99 fair? Compared with a general-entertainment streamer, it's pricey for the size of the catalogue. Compared with what Brazilian expats used to pay for satellite Globo packages, it's cheap. The real comparison is how much Globo you'll watch. Two novelas a night makes it good value. One show a week doesn't.

Devices
Official apps cover iPhone and iPad, Android phones, Apple TV, Android TV and Google TV devices, Chromecast, Roku, and recent Samsung TVs, with others added over time. Install from the platform's own store. Older smart TVs can be hit-and-miss, so a $30-50 streaming stick is often the easier route. Our streaming device guide covers which to pick.
Live Globo at HD quality needs a steady connection of around 5-8 Mbps per stream. If it stutters at 8pm, the problem is almost always Wi-Fi, not Globo. See how to find the slow layer.
Three common mistakes
- Using the Brazilian app with a VPN. The domestic Globoplay plan is licensed for Brazil and needs a CPF. Globo's terms don't allow using it from abroad, and accounts get flagged. The international version exists so you don't have to.
- Buying an "IPTV box with Globo." Boxes promising Globo, Premiere, SporTV and Telecine for $10 are unlicensed. They fail, and your money goes with them.
- Paying twice. If you already have Sling's Globo pack, check whether it includes Globoplay access before buying the app separately.
