IPTV Subscription for Indian Channels: US Prices Compared (2026)

Short answer: a licensed subscription for Indian channels in the US costs roughly $10 to $25 a month for one language, and most of the legal options come from just two places: Sling's Desi packs and YuppTV. Annual plans can cut the bill by a third to a half, but only Sling's and YuppTV's yearly prices are published clearly enough to do the maths. The one name everyone searches for, JioHotstar, launched in the UK, Canada and Singapore in September 2026 and still isn't sold in the United States.

The price table

This is every licensed route we could price for a US household. Where a service doesn't publish a fixed US price outside its own app, we've said so rather than guess. Indian packs are repriced more often than English ones, so the date next to each figure matters.

Service / pack Monthly Yearly What you get Price source
Sling Desi Binge Plus $15 ($10 first month) $99 at launch On-demand Star, SonyLIV, Hotstar Specials, plus Willow Nov 2023, recheck
Sling Dakshin $20 $120 Sun, Star South, Vijay, Asianet, Willow Sling, 2023 launch
Sling Dakshin Mega $25 $200 Dakshin plus extra channels and on-demand Sling, 2023 launch
Sling Hindi / Hindi Mega About $10 to $25 Prepaid offers vary Live Hindi entertainment, film, news Range, Sept 2026
YuppTV single language About $10 to $15 About $100 (6 months about $55) Live channels and catch-up by language Sept 2026
Willow $9.99 Check current offer Cricket only Sept 2026
ZEE5 Global, Sun NXT, Aha Set in the app Usually offered One network's library, mostly on demand Not confirmed
DISH / DirecTV South Asian add-ons On top of a base package Contract terms apply Live channels on satellite Quote by phone
JioHotstar Not sold in US n/a n/a Sept 2026

Two things stand out. First, nearly every live Indian channel available legally in the US runs through Sling or YuppTV, so comparing those two is most of the decision. Second, the network apps are cheap but are mostly libraries rather than live TV. If your parents want the 8pm serial at 8pm Indian time (which is morning on the East Coast), an app alone often won't do it.

Sling's Desi packs, priced out

Sling sells its international packs as standalone subscriptions. You don't need Sling Orange or Blue underneath, which keeps the entry price low. The packs fall into three groups.

Desi Binge Plus. When Sling added Disney Star's channels in November 2023, this pack was $10 for the first month and $15 a month after. It's built around on-demand libraries: Sling lists Hotstar Specials, SonyLIV, Star India On Demand, ShemarooMe and Times Play. Willow is included, which is why cricket fans often land here. An annual price of $99 was offered at launch; check whether it's still on the sign-up page.

Dakshin and Dakshin Mega. These are the South Indian packs. At the 2023 relaunch, Sling priced Dakshin at $20 a month or $120 a year and Dakshin Mega at $25 a month or $200 a year, with Sun Group channels in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam, Willow and Willow Xtra, and the Simply South film library. Star Maa, Star Suvarna, Vijay TV and Asianet arrived with the Disney Star deal later that year. Sling has since added a lighter Dakshin Flex tier, so look at all three before choosing.

Hindi, Hindi Mega and the smaller language packs. Live Hindi channels sit here, along with Urdu, Punjabi, Marathi and Bangla packs. These have generally sat between $10 and $25 a month, with Mega at the top. The full breakdown is in our Sling Desi review.

One cost people miss: if anyone in the house also wants ESPN or local channels through Sling, that's a separate English subscription billed on top. It lives in the same app and account, but it's not a discount.

YuppTV's monthly, six-month and yearly plans

YuppTV is a licensed aggregator that prices by language. Its US single-language plans have run at about $10 to $15 a month, roughly $55 for six months, and about $100 for a year. Multi-language "super" packs cost more and vary.

The appeal is regional depth. For Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam, YuppTV often carries more live channels than Sling. The risk is the same one every aggregator carries: if a broadcaster pulls its overseas rights, the channel leaves whatever plan you're on. That has happened before with Sony and Star channels, and it's the most common complaint in YuppTV's reviews.

So the yearly plan is cheaper on paper and riskier in practice. Our YuppTV review goes through the line-up problem in detail. Short version: pay monthly for the first quarter, then switch to annual once you're sure the channels you care about are staying.

Network apps and what they cost

Each big Indian broadcaster sells its own app abroad, and for a single-network household that's often the cheapest legal answer.

  • ZEE5 Global carries Zee serials, often soon after Indian broadcast, plus films and originals. US pricing is set in the app and changes with promotions, so we haven't quoted a figure.
  • SonyLIV content has reached US viewers mainly through Sling. Check whether the standalone app accepts a US sign-up before paying for it twice.
  • Sun NXT and Aha serve Tamil and Telugu viewers with large film libraries. Both offer monthly and yearly tiers in-app.
  • Hulu and Disney+ picked up much of the old Hotstar entertainment library when Hotstar's US service closed in late 2021.

Why no fixed prices here? These apps price dynamically by country and frequently run festival offers around Diwali and Pongal. Treat any figure you see on a third-party site, including ours, as a starting point and confirm on the checkout screen.

Monthly or yearly: the break-even

An annual plan only saves money if you'd have stayed subscribed past its break-even month. Here's the arithmetic for the plans with published yearly prices.

Plan 12 x monthly Yearly Saving Break-even
Sling Dakshin $240 $120 50% Month 6
Sling Dakshin Mega $300 $200 33% Month 8
Sling Desi Binge Plus $180 $99 45% Month 7
YuppTV single language $120 to $180 About $100 17% to 44% Month 7 to 10

The Dakshin annual plan is the standout: half price if you'd watch all year. Mega's discount is smaller, so the upgrade costs proportionally more on an annual plan than monthly.

Three rules before you prepay:

  1. Check refund terms. Prepaid annual plans on these services are generally non-refundable once started.
  2. Know what you're watching for. If cricket is the reason, a year only makes sense if there's cricket you care about across most of it.
  3. Diarise the renewal. Annual plans auto-renew at whatever the price is then, not what you paid.

We work through the general version of this in is a 12-month subscription worth it.

Where JioHotstar fits (it doesn't, yet)

Hotstar ran a standalone US service from 2017 until Disney closed it in late 2021, moving entertainment to Hulu and sport to ESPN+. JioHotstar, the merged Reliance-Disney platform, finally went international on 2 September 2026, but only in the UK, Canada and Singapore. In Canada it costs CA$19.99 a quarter or CA$49.99 a year, with no live sport at launch.

The company says more markets will follow. Until the US is one of them, any seller offering "JioHotstar for America" is either routing you through another country's account or reselling something it doesn't own. If you have family in Canada, our Canada guide covers what's changed there.

Three sensible stacks

Most households end up combining two things. These are the combinations that make sense on price.

Hindi serials and some cricket. Sling Desi Binge Plus at about $15 a month. Add ZEE5 only if Zee shows are the household favourite, because Zee content is thin on Sling.

A Tamil or Telugu household that watches daily. Sling Dakshin on the annual plan, effectively $10 a month at the published $120. If the channel you need isn't in it, YuppTV's language pack monthly is the backup.

Mostly films and web series, rarely live TV. Skip the live packs entirely. One network app (Sun NXT, Aha, ZEE5) at a time, rotating every few months, costs less than any pack.

Why the $60-a-year offers don't add up

Search for this topic and most results are sellers promising thousands of Indian channels for $5 or $6 a month. Compare that with the table above: one licensed language pack alone costs $120 a year, and Willow's cricket rights are another $9.99 a month. A seller charging $60 a year for every Star, Zee, Sony, Colors and Sun channel plus IPL isn't paying any broadcaster.

That matters for more than legality. Those services go dark during India matches, take payment through WhatsApp or gift cards, and have no refund route when they disappear. DISH won a $24.97 million judgment against one long-running South Asian box service in 2024, and the settlement handed its customer lists to DISH.

A licensed service will always have a company name, an app in the official store, card payment and published terms. If any of those is missing, walk away.

Quick answers

How much is a subscription for Indian channels in the US? About $10 to $25 a month for one language pack from Sling or YuppTV. Yearly plans bring that to roughly $8 to $17 a month.

What's the cheapest legal option? A single network app if you only watch one network. For live channels, a YuppTV single-language plan or Sling Dakshin on its annual price.

Is a yearly plan worth it? Only if you'd stay subscribed past month six to ten, depending on the plan, and accept that channels can leave mid-term.

Can I get JioHotstar in the USA? No. It launched in the UK, Canada and Singapore in September 2026. Much of the old Hotstar library is on Hulu and Disney+ in the US.

Do Sling Desi packs need a Sling base plan? No. They're sold on their own. English channels are a separate subscription.

Which subscription includes cricket? Sling's Desi Binge Plus and Dakshin packs have included Willow. Willow is also sold alone at $9.99 a month.

Are cheap Indian IPTV subscriptions legal? Not when they offer every network for a few dollars a month. Those sellers don't hold US rights.

Indian packs are repriced and reshuffled whenever a distribution deal renews, and several prices above date from the pack's launch rather than this month. Confirm the current price and channel list on the checkout page before paying. Checked October 2026.
