IPTV With Indian Channels: US and Indian TV in One Home (2026)

Short answer: if your household wants ESPN and local news for one person and Star Plus or Sun TV for another, Sling is the only big streaming service that sells both in the same app, under one login. It still bills them as separate subscriptions, though, so "one bill" means one statement with two lines. YouTube TV, Fubo and Hulu + Live TV have no Indian channel add-ons, so with any of them you're running a second service alongside. The cheapest mixed setup of all is often an antenna for US locals plus a single Indian pack.

At a glance

US and Indian TV together

One app for both Sling (English plan + Desi pack)
One dish for both DISH or DirecTV with a South Asian add-on
Cheapest Antenna for locals + one Indian pack
Most sport YouTube TV or Fubo + a separate Indian service
Indian add-on on YouTube TV / Fubo None we could find

Why mixed households pay twice

US live TV services are built around English-language bundles: local ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox, ESPN, CNN, HGTV and so on. Indian channels are licensed separately by their owners, JioStar, Zee, Sony and Sun, usually to one or two US distributors at a time. Very few companies hold both kinds of deal.

So most mixed households end up with two products. The question is how much friction comes with that: two apps or one, two remotes or one, two passwords for grandparents to remember or one. That's what this guide sorts out, along with the monthly total.

A quick self-check before you start. Write down the three US channels and the three Indian channels your household actually watches each week. Most families find the US list is "locals plus one sports channel" and the Indian list is "one network's serials plus news". That shapes everything below.

Sling: two subscriptions, one app

Sling is the only major US streaming service that runs a serious Indian line-up alongside its English plans. Since November 2023 its Desi packs have included Disney Star's channels (Star Plus, Star Maa, Star Vijay, Asianet and more), and its Dakshin packs carry the Sun Group's South Indian channels.

How it works for a mixed home:

  • English side: Sling Orange (ESPN-led) or Sling Blue (news and entertainment-led), which ran at roughly $45 to $50 a month in 2026. Sling also sells cheaper short-term passes; our Sling TV review compares them.
  • Indian side: a Desi pack, about $10 to $25 a month for most single-language packs, bought as a separate subscription.
  • The result: one account, one app, one channel guide with both sets of channels in it. Two charges on the same card.

That shared guide is the real win. Grandma doesn't need to switch apps to go from the evening news to her serial. Recording works across both, and the DVR covers both.

The catches. Sling Blue's local channels are limited to some markets, and Sling Orange has none, so many Sling homes still need an antenna for locals. And the Desi packs don't discount when you add an English plan. The detail on each pack is in our Sling Desi review.

Satellite: one dish, one remote

DISH and DirecTV have both sold South Asian channel packs as add-ons to a regular English base package. For some households that's still the neatest answer: one box, one remote, one bill, and a traditional guide where Indian channels sit next to the US ones.

Where satellite makes sense:

  • You already have DISH or DirecTV and are happy with it.
  • Your internet is slow, capped or shared by many people.
  • Older relatives in the house find streaming apps confusing.

Where it doesn't: the base package plus add-on usually costs more than any streaming combination, there's often a contract and equipment fees, and the Indian add-ons are quoted by phone rather than listed clearly online. Ask specifically which Star, Zee, Sony and Sun channels are in the add-on today, and whether the price is promotional.

If you have DirecTV's streaming version rather than the dish, ask whether the same international add-ons are offered there. Don't assume they are.

YouTube TV, Fubo and Hulu + Live TV

These three are the strongest US services for sports and local channels, and none sells an Indian channel add-on that we could find in October 2026. That doesn't rule them out. It means you'll run them alongside a separate Indian service.

YouTube TV ($82.99 a month in 2026) has the most reliable local channels and an unlimited DVR. Pair it with a Sling Desi pack or YuppTV and you have two apps but very little missing. YouTube itself also hosts the official live streams of Indian news channels like Aaj Tak and India Today, free, so news is covered on the same device.

Fubo is the pick if the US half of the household is sports-first. Its international add-ons have focused on other languages; for Indian channels you'll need a second service.

Hulu + Live TV has a quiet advantage for Hindi viewers. It includes the regular Hulu library, and when Hotstar's US service closed in late 2021, its entertainment catalogue moved to Hulu. So a lot of older Star shows are already included on demand, even though live Star Plus isn't.

If you're choosing between the first two, our YouTube TV vs Sling TV comparison sets out the trade-offs.

The antenna shortcut

A lot of households pay for an English live TV service mostly to get local channels. If that's you, an antenna does the job for nothing after the hardware.

A decent indoor antenna gets ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, PBS and often a dozen sub-channels in most metro areas, in better picture quality than streaming. Pair it with one Indian pack and the monthly bill drops to $10 to $25.

What you lose: ESPN, CNN and cable channels. What you keep: local news, network sport (most NFL, the Super Bowl, a lot of college football) and primetime shows. Our cheapest way to get local channels guide goes network by network.

To make it feel like one system, plug the antenna into the TV and use the TV's own input switching, or add a network tuner so the antenna channels appear on your streaming device too.

Four setups, costed

Monthly totals use 2026 list prices where we could confirm them and ranges where packs vary. Taxes and regional sports fees are extra.

Setup Monthly Apps Locals Best for
Antenna + Sling Desi or YuppTV About $10 to $25 1 + TV input Yes, free Budget homes, Indian-first viewing
Sling Orange or Blue + Desi pack About $55 to $75 1 Some markets (Blue) One guide for everyone
YouTube TV + Sling Desi pack About $93 to $108 2 Yes Sports and locals with no gaps
DISH or DirecTV + South Asian add-on Quote-based, usually highest 0 (one box) Yes Slow internet, older viewers

The jump between rows two and three is mostly the price of reliable locals and a bigger sports line-up. If you don't watch much sport, row one or two is plenty.

Profiles, screens and the time-zone problem

Simultaneous streams. In a mixed home, the US channels and the Indian channels are often on at the same time in different rooms. Check how many streams each subscription allows. On Sling, English and Desi subscriptions sit on one account, so ask how the stream limit applies across both.

Profiles. YouTube TV and Hulu let each person keep a separate profile and recommendations. That stops the cricket highlights and the Bigg Boss episodes from cluttering each other's home screens.

Indian primetime lands in the US morning. An 8:30pm show in India airs at 11am Eastern and 8am Pacific while US clocks are on daylight saving time, an hour earlier in winter. A cloud DVR or catch-up is what makes live Indian TV usable after work. Sling includes DVR hours; YuppTV relies on catch-up. Set recordings once and they'll be waiting in the evening.

One device for the main TV. Pick a streaming device that runs every app you've chosen. Sling, YouTube TV and YuppTV all run on Fire TV, Roku, Apple TV and Google TV. The network apps (ZEE5 in particular) are patchier on Roku.

Avoid the all-in-one boxes. Sellers in community groups pitch a single box with "all US and Indian channels" for a small yearly fee. No licensed company sells that combination at that price. Those boxes stop working without notice, and some of their operators have been sued: DISH won a $24.97 million judgment against one South Asian box service in 2024.

Quick answers

Can I get US and Indian channels on one bill? On one account and statement, yes, with Sling or with a DISH or DirecTV add-on. They're still separate subscriptions underneath.

Does YouTube TV have Indian channels? Not as live channel add-ons. YouTube does host official free live streams from Indian news channels such as Aaj Tak.

Does Fubo have a Hindi add-on? We couldn't find one in October 2026. Fubo households use a separate service for Indian channels.

Do I need Sling Orange or Blue to buy a Desi pack? No. Desi packs are sold on their own. Add an English plan only if you want those channels.

What's the cheapest way to get both? An antenna for local channels plus one Indian pack, about $10 to $25 a month.

Is Hulu + Live TV any good for Indian viewers? It has no live Indian channels, but its Hulu library includes much of the old Hotstar catalogue on demand.

How do I watch Indian primetime after work? Use the DVR or catch-up. Indian evening shows air during the US morning.
