IPTVX Review (2026): Worth the Premium Price?

Short answer: IPTVX is a polished, well-established IPTV player for Apple devices, and its main selling point in 2026 is that it now also runs on Android and Google TV, so one subscription can cover a mixed household. It's also the priciest of the mainstream players, at $28.99 a year in the US. For an all-Apple home, UHF does most of the same for less. For a home with an iPhone and a Google TV box, IPTVX is one of very few apps that fits both, though its Android version is much newer and less proven than the Apple one.

IPTVX in brief

What it costs, plan by plan

Since price is the first objection most people have, start there. These are the App Store in-app purchase prices in the US as of September 2026; other countries differ, and the store shows your local price before you pay.

Plan Price Per month
Monthly $3.99 $3.99
Quarterly $10.49 About $3.50
Six months $18.99 About $3.17
Annual $28.99 About $2.42
Annual, Family Sharing $56.00 About $4.67 for the family
Theme add-ons $12.99 each One-off

For comparison, UHF Pro is $17.99 a year and TiviMate Premium about $11.99 a year. IPTVX costs roughly two to two-and-a-half times as much. There's no lifetime option on the current App Store listing, so the annual plan is the one to compare.

The $12.99 theme add-ons are purely cosmetic. Skip them unless you really love a particular look.

What you get for that

  • Sources: Xtream Codes, M3U and M3U8, plus Plex libraries and SMB network shares.
  • Picture: Dolby Vision, HDR10 and HLG.
  • Sync: favourites, history and settings across devices through iCloud on Apple, and across platforms with the multiplatform subscription.
  • Guide: a searchable programme guide with reminders.
  • Multiview and picture-in-picture.
  • Offline mode on iPhone and iPad.
  • Parental controls.
  • Recording: through IPTVX Media Server, a separate server that runs on a Mac or NAS and handles recording and your local media.

The app itself is clear about what it isn't: it "does not provide content." You add a playlist or login from a service you already have. What an M3U playlist is and what Xtream Codes details are.

The Android version

IPTVX was an Apple-only app for most of its life. It now has an official Google Play listing covering phones, tablets and Android TV, with remote-friendly navigation, and the developer also offers an official build for compatible Fire OS devices.

That's genuinely useful. Very few polished players run well on both Apple TV and Android TV, and a single subscription across both saves maintaining two different apps with two different favourites lists.

But be realistic. The Google Play listing is recent, with a small install base and few ratings as of September 2026, and it was last updated in August 2026. The Apple version has years of refinement and thousands of reviews behind it; the Android one doesn't yet. If Android is your main platform, TiviMate is still the safer choice today. And like every Android app, IPTVX won't run on Amazon's Vega OS sticks such as the Fire TV Stick 4K Select. What to do if you have one.

Strengths

It feels premium. Artwork, layouts and transitions look closer to a big streaming service than to a typical IPTV player. On an Apple TV 4K connected to a good TV, that matters more than you'd think.

Mixed households. One subscription, one interface, on both Apple and Android. That's rare.

Established on Apple. A 4.4-star App Store rating from around 3,100 ratings, and a developer who's been at it since 2019. That track record is worth something in a category full of short-lived apps.

Broad device support on Apple. Apple TV, iPhone, iPad, Mac with Apple silicon and Vision Pro, from the same purchase.

Weaknesses

Price. $28.99 a year is the top of the market. For many viewers the extra polish over UHF isn't worth an extra $11 a year.

Subscription only. No lifetime option on the current listing. You'll keep paying for as long as you use it.

Requirements. iOS, iPadOS and tvOS 16 or later, and a Mac with an M1 chip or newer. Old Intel Macs are out.

Recording needs more kit. Like every Apple TV player, it can't record on the Apple TV itself. You need the Media Server running on a Mac or NAS. Recording options compared.

A crowded name. Search "IPTV X" on Google Play and you'll find unrelated apps with similar names. Check the publisher is Bending X before installing.

Setting it up across devices

The whole point of paying IPTVX's premium is having the same setup everywhere, so it's worth doing the setup in an order that makes that work.

  1. Start on the device you type most easily on. Add your source on an iPhone, iPad or Mac rather than wrestling a long server address in with a TV remote.
  2. Buy the subscription once, in the right store. A subscription bought through Apple is managed by Apple, and one bought through Google by Google. If you're mixed, check in the app which plan covers cross-platform sync before you pay, so you don't end up with two subscriptions.
  3. Sign in on the second device and let it sync. Favourites, history and playlists should follow. If a device is on a different platform, confirm the playlist appears before deleting anything.
  4. Check your provider's connection limit. Sync doesn't change how many streams your service allows at once. Two TVs playing at the same time need a plan that permits two connections. How connection limits work.
  5. Load the guide and give it time. A large guide can take a few minutes on first load. Empty guides are nearly always a URL or matching issue, not the app. Fixing an empty guide.

Cancel from the store you subscribed through: Settings, then your name, then Subscriptions on Apple devices, or Payments and subscriptions in Google Play. Deleting the app doesn't stop the charge, which catches a surprising number of people out at renewal time.

IPTVX against UHF and TiviMate

IPTVX UHF TiviMate
Yearly price (US) $28.99 $17.99 About $11.99
Lifetime option No $49.99 About $33.99
Apple TV Yes Yes No
Android TV / Google TV Yes, newer No Yes, mature
Plex Yes Yes, plus Jellyfin and Emby No
Recording Via Media Server Via UHF Server On-device (Premium)

The pattern is clear. TiviMate wins on Android and on price. UHF wins on Apple for value. IPTVX wins only where you need both platforms in one app, or where you simply prefer its look and don't mind paying for it. Our UHF review covers the Apple-only alternative in detail.

Who should buy it

Buy IPTVX if your household has both Apple and Android screens and you want one app on all of them, or if you're on Apple TV and the look and feel matter enough to you to pay extra.

Skip it if you're all-Apple and price-conscious (UHF), or mainly on Android TV (TiviMate). Also skip it if you're on a Samsung or LG TV app, a Roku or a Vega OS Fire TV, none of which it runs on.

Start with the monthly plan. At $3.99 it's a cheap way to find out whether the polish is worth the premium to you, before committing $28.99.
