IPTV Smarters Pro Alternatives (2026): The Right Player for Each Screen

Short answer: the best replacement depends entirely on the screen you watch on. TiviMate for Android TV and Google TV, UHF or IPTVX for Apple TV and iPhone, OTT Navigator for Android phones, and Smart IPTV or a plugged-in Google TV box for Samsung and LG TVs. Your login moves with you, because Smarters never owned your subscription. The non-obvious catch: plenty of "alternatives" are just IPTV Smarters under another name, so check who publishes an app before you type your password into it.

Why people are leaving Smarters

IPTV Smarters Pro was the default recommendation for years, mostly because it ran on nearly everything. Three things changed that.

First, a Madrid court ordered Google to remove it from Google Play in December 2022, after a LaLiga complaint. Android users since then have been installing it from outside the store, which is harder and riskier.

Second, the name fragmented. Its developer, WHMCS Smarters, sells white-label versions to other businesses, and after the removal, look-alike listings and unofficial APKs multiplied. In 2026 you can't assume an app called "Smarters" comes from the original company.

Third, it simply isn't the best player on most platforms any more. Its menu-first design is slower for live TV than a proper guide grid, and its recording is basic. A head-to-head with TiviMate goes into the detail.

None of this means a working copy of Smarters stops playing overnight. If yours came from an official store listing and still works, there's no emergency. The case for switching is about the next install: a new TV box, a reset phone, a replacement for a broken stick. That's when you'd otherwise go hunting for an APK or a lookalike listing, and it's the moment to pick a player with one clear publisher instead.

Alternatives compared, with prices

All of these are players. None include channels; they play an M3U playlist or Xtream Codes login you already have. Prices are those published or widely reported in September 2026 and vary by region.

Android TV and Fire OS

Our pick: TiviMate. It opens into a guide grid, switches channels quickly with a remote, and its Premium tier adds the best recording of any mainstream Android player. The free version handles one playlist, which is enough for many people. Premium is sold only through the TiviMate Companion app on Google Play. Whether Premium is worth paying for.

Runner-up: OTT Navigator. Free for most features, supports an unusually wide range of catch-up formats, and has separate phone and TV versions. The interface is busier. How the two compare in detail.

Both run on Google TV devices, Android TV boxes and Fire OS sticks like the Fire TV Stick 4K Max. Neither runs on Amazon's Vega OS models, such as the Fire TV Stick 4K Select, which only install from the Amazon Appstore. On those, your options are whatever player apps the Appstore offers for your model, or a different device.

Apple TV, iPhone and Mac

Apple users have the strongest set of alternatives, and they all come from the App Store with a named publisher, which removes most of the clone worry.

UHF is the one to try first if everything you own is Apple. It supports M3U, Xtream Codes, and Plex, Jellyfin and Emby libraries, handles Dolby Vision and Atmos, and can show up to four streams at once in picture-in-picture. The free tier is usable; Pro at $17.99 a year adds sync across devices and removes limits on guide browsing. Recording needs its separate UHF Server app on a computer.

IPTVX from Bending X covers the same ground and also runs on Android and Google TV, so it suits a household that mixes an iPhone with an Android TV box. It's pricier, from $3.99 a month or $28.99 a year, with a Family Sharing plan at $56 a year.

iPlayTV is a lighter, older option for iPhone and iPad if you want something simple. Setting up a player on Apple TV.

Samsung and LG TVs

Smart TV app stores are the weakest place to replace Smarters. The long-standing option is Smart IPTV (from siptv.eu), which costs €5.49 once per TV after a 7-day trial and has you upload your playlist through its website. It works, but the interface is dated and the payment is tied to that one TV's hardware address, so a new TV means paying again.

You'll also see "activation" players sold per TV through websites that take payment in crypto or via messaging apps. Be careful with those; some are legitimate small developers, but lookalike activation sites are common and there's little recourse if one disappears. Smart IPTV versus SET IPTV covers that choice.

Honestly, the better answer on most smart TVs is to plug in a Google TV box. A $50 onn 4K Pro or a $99.99 Google TV Streamer gets you TiviMate and a far better experience than any TV-native app. Samsung and LG guides go through the options.

Windows and Mac computers

Kodi with the PVR IPTV Simple Client add-on gives you a full guide and live TV on a PC for free. Setup takes some patience. Setting it up properly.

VLC opens an M3U file or link directly. There's no proper guide, so it's not a daily driver, but it's the fastest way to check whether a playlist works at all. On a Mac, UHF and IPTVX both have native apps. More Windows options.

Alternatives to avoid

  • Rebranded Smarters builds sent by a seller. If a provider gives you a download link to "their" player, you're installing an app nobody reviewed and handing it your login.
  • "Premium unlocked" or modded versions of paid players. Cracked TiviMate or OTT Navigator APKs are a known way to compromise a device.
  • Players that come with channels. A legitimate player is empty until you add a playlist. One that arrives full is an unlicensed service wearing a player's clothes.
  • Lifetime "keys" from third-party sites. Buy premium only from the developer's own app or an official store.

And if your current seller only works with Smarters and nothing else, that's worth thinking about. Licensed services publish their own apps in official stores. Warning signs of an unlicensed seller.

Moving your login across

Your subscription is a set of details, not an app. In Smarters, you entered either an M3U link or three Xtream Codes details: server URL, username and password. Every alternative above accepts the same details. Your provider's welcome email usually lists them if you can't find them in the app.

Add them to the new player, give the guide a few minutes to load, and then uninstall Smarters so it isn't quietly holding one of your allowed connections. What Xtream Codes details are and how M3U links work if either is unfamiliar.

Quick answers

What is the best alternative to IPTV Smarters Pro? TiviMate on Android TV and Google TV; UHF or IPTVX on Apple devices; OTT Navigator on Android phones.

Is IPTV Smarters still available? Not on Google Play since a December 2022 court order. Apps using the name exist elsewhere, some from different publishers, so check who made any copy you install.

Will my Smarters login work in another app? Yes. M3U links and Xtream Codes details work in any of the players listed here.

Is there a free alternative? OTT Navigator, Kodi and VLC are free, and TiviMate and UHF have usable free tiers.

What's the best alternative on a Samsung TV? Smart IPTV works, but a $50 Google TV box running TiviMate is a better experience.

What works on the Fire TV Stick 4K Select? Only apps in the Amazon Appstore, because it runs Vega OS. TiviMate and OTT Navigator won't install.

Do these apps include channels? No. They play a login or playlist you already have.
