Sling TV Deals in 2026: Which Ones Actually Save Money

Short answer: the only Sling deal that reliably saves real money in fall 2026 is the recurring new-customer discount, which was running at $10 off a month for your first six months ($60 in total) in September. The free AirTV Mini with a two-month prepay is decent value if you'd buy a streaming device anyway. Most of the rest are premium-channel teasers that revert to full price after a month or two. And the thing Sling won't put in the headline: Orange has ESPN but one stream, Blue has three streams but no ESPN, so the "deal" only works if you picked the right base plan.

At a glance

Sling in September 2026

Orange or Blue $45.99 a month
Orange + Blue $60.99 a month
Best deal $10 off for 6 months, new customers

Deal What you get Real saving Our verdict
New-customer discount $10 off a month, first 6 months $60 Take it
Free AirTV Mini Streaming device with 2-month prepay about $50-80 device value Good if you need a device
Premium bundle trial Paramount+ with Showtime, AMC+, Starz, MGM+ free for a month about $36 once Only if you cancel on time
Starz add-on $2.50 a month for 2 months about $12 Fine for one show
Paramount+ with Showtime add-on $2.50 a month for 2 months small Fine for one show
AMC+ add-on $5 first month small Skip unless you watch AMC+
Day / week passes Orange access for 24 hours to a week Depends on use Great for one event

The pattern: the base-plan discount is money off something you'd pay for anyway. The premium teasers are designed to turn into a $35.98-a-month bundle if you forget. Set a calendar reminder the day you sign up.

Pick the right base plan first

A deal on the wrong plan isn't a deal. Sling's two main plans split channels in a way that trips people up.

Sling Orange Sling Blue Orange + Blue
Price $45.99 $45.99 $60.99
ESPN networks Yes No Yes
Fox / NBC locals No Some markets Some markets
FS1, NFL Network, USA No Yes Yes
TNT, TBS, CNN Yes Yes Yes
Streams at once 1 3 4
DVR 50 hrs 50 hrs 50 hrs

Orange is for one person who wants ESPN. Blue is for a household that wants news, FS1 and some locals. Both is for a sports household that wants everything Sling has, and at that price it's worth comparing against YouTube TV's $64.99 Sports Plan, which includes all four locals and unlimited DVR.

There's also a smaller plan, Sling Select, listed at $19.99 for about ten channels in 2026. It's too thin for most people, but check its lineup if you only want two or three specific networks.

Neither plan has ABC or CBS. Budget $30 for an antenna. Antenna guide.

Day and week passes

This is Sling's most useful idea, and it's underused. Instead of a monthly subscription, you can buy short passes, priced between about $4.99 and $14.99 depending on length, for Orange-level channels.

They make sense for:

  • A single Monday Night Football game or college bowl on ESPN.
  • A weekend of March Madness games on TNT or TBS.
  • Visiting family who want a specific channel for a few days.

Three or four passes a month and you're better off subscribing. The math is simple: if you'd use it more than about three times a month, take the monthly plan with the new-customer discount instead.

The AirTV offer, explained

Sling has been offering a free AirTV Mini when you prepay two months. The AirTV Mini is an Android TV streaming stick with a built-in way to integrate antenna channels into the Sling guide, if you pair it with an antenna.

That's actually the clever part: Sling's biggest weakness is missing ABC and CBS, and AirTV puts your antenna channels right next to Sling's in one guide. If you're buying a streaming device anyway, it's worth taking. If you already own a Roku or Fire TV, the offer has less value, and prepaying locks you in for two months. Compare streaming devices.

Premium add-on promos

Sling bundles premium channels as add-ons: Paramount+ with Showtime, Starz, MGM+, AMC+. Promotional rates in September 2026 included two months of Starz or Paramount+ at $2.50 a month and AMC+ for $5 for the first month, plus a premium bundle free for a month then $35.98.

These are fine for binge-watching a single series. They're not fine as a long-term arrangement, because the regular prices are the same as or higher than subscribing directly. If you'd keep a premium service, subscribe to it directly or check whether your phone carrier includes it.

What you'll pay after the promo

Here's a realistic first-year bill for Sling Orange + Blue with the $10-off offer and a few extras:

  • Months 1-6: $50.99 x 6 = $305.94
  • Months 7-12: $60.99 x 6 = $365.94
  • DVR Plus for unlimited recording, if you add it: $5 x 12 = $60

That's about $672 without DVR Plus, or $732 with it. Compare YouTube TV's Sports Plan at $780 a year with unlimited DVR and all four local networks included. The gap is smaller than Sling's ads suggest, and it shrinks further if you'd need an antenna and tuner to cover ABC and CBS.

When Sling's deals are best

Sling's promotions follow the sports calendar, and knowing the pattern helps you avoid signing up a week before a better offer appears.

Late August to September. Football season opens and Sling pushes its hardest new-customer discounts. The $10-off-for-six-months offer is typical of this window. If you want Sling for football, this is the time.

Mid-March. March Madness brings short-term deals on passes, since TNT and TBS carry a large share of the tournament. Cheap passes rather than monthly discounts have been the pattern.

Black Friday. Streaming services, Sling included, have run some of their deepest percentage discounts of the year in late November in past seasons.

Summer. The quietest period, with the weakest offers. If you're only watching baseball on TBS or the occasional ESPN event, day passes cover it better than any subscription.

One practical point: Sling has no annual contract, so you can cancel after the promotional months and come back when the next big deal lands. Returning customers aren't always eligible for new-customer pricing, though, so don't count on getting the same discount twice.

Sling vs the alternatives

Sling makes sense for one person who wants ESPN and cable news without local channels, or for a household that uses day passes for occasional games.

YouTube TV makes more sense if you want all four locals, a family watching on several screens and unlimited DVR. Its current discounts are often similar in size.

ESPN Unlimited makes more sense if ESPN is the only reason you're looking at Orange. At $31.99 it's $14 cheaper. The cheapest ways to get ESPN.

Philo makes more sense if you don't care about sports at all. It's $25.

And one thing to steer clear of: "Sling channels plus 20,000 more" IPTV offers at a fraction of the price. They aren't licensed. Red flags to watch for.
